Since the Holy Spirit mentions to whom He is addressing this epistle, we stop and consider the implications for us. 

Following the message, we hear a Lord's Supper devotional from Matt Perry, one of our Elders at Springfield Baptist Church. 

March 10th 2024 - Pastor James Tyler - 1 John 2:9-11 - "Hate Means You're Blind"

As God's Word continues to explain how we can know that we know Jesus, we learn another challenging truth about what might be going on in our hearts. 

March 3rd 2024 - Pastor James Tyler - 1 John 2:7-8 - "A New Old Commandment"

Today we begin to explore the overarching theme of developing in community with a foray into how Christ makes the old commandments new, and especially the one to love one another. 

February 18th 2024 - Pastor James Tyler - 1 John 2:6 - "This is How You Walk"

If we want to walk as Jesus walked, we must abide in Him. Today we consider what that means. You will also hear a devotional from Cecil Smith, who is one of our elders, which he share with us prior to observing Lord's supper. 

February 11th 2024 - Pastor James Tyler - 1 John 2:3-6 - "How you might know"

In 1 John 2:3-6, we explore the important distinction between how you can become a Christian, and how you can know that you have become a Christian. 

February 4th 2024 - Pastor James Tyler - 1 John 2:1-2 - "That you may not sin"

We pick up in 1st John 2, continuing to explore the outcome of forgiveness. 

January 28th 2024 - Pastor James Tyler - 1 John 1:8-10 - "On Self-Deception"

As we make our way to the end of chapter one, we consider the paradox of self-deception, and see how we can avoid falling prey to our own dishonesty. 

January 21st 2024 - Pastor James Tyler - 1 John 1:1-10

Today we review verses 1-7, and begin to touch on the ideas in verses 8-10, followed by a Lord's Supper devotional from Rick Perry. Please note that this series relies heavily on video, and we are still working out how to best capture our Sunday services so that you can catch up through our podcast.
